Daniel Lee Blog #11

Kaizen means continuous improvement. It is the iteration part of our playing the game. Kaizen is a system that enables the designer to change and to keep improving the design. Kaizen can relate two of our seven themes. It can be related to theme 5: Good design entails continual redesign and theme 7: Good design always involves trade-offs.

To integrate health and fitness concepts, one of our concepts is to have some sort of activity related to the theme of the ride that the people waiting in line must do as part of the line. For example, a group of people can get in a big room and must complete some tasks as a group in order to continue waiting for the ride.

After applying the technique of kaizen, our group is thinking about changing the whole line system. There is set time for those group activities as a part of line which is listed on big electronic board front of the ride. People who want to ride must obtain a ticket which has a time when they can get in. By this way, the people don’t have to stand in lines all day, but they get to move around the theme park.
