Tom Davidson Blog #11

Kaizen is another way to describe the theme "Good design entails continual redesign." Instead of focusing on making something perfect, focus on getting it done... Then do it again. And again. Over and over again until you run out of time.

One of our concepts for the restaurant involves introducing a long term competition. Kids who enter the competition get an instruction pamphlet and get their picture taken. After a few months, they send in their current picture, along with a log of their activities from the past few months, and the participant that's lost the most weight wins a trip for a day to Disney, or Disney merchandise. One of the biggest problems is giving kids an incentive to eat healthy and keep eating healthy and this is one way to get them to do that.

A revision for this idea would be to allow every participant to win a prize rather than just the winner. Also, we could allow the children who didn't win to participate more than once so that they could have another chance to win. We would need to give and incentive to every participant to continue eating healthy and being active, even if they didn't win the first time.
